After the success of Beyond the bar, currently airing on JTBC, Jung Chaeyeon may well follow up with a brand new project that already looks promising. According to initial reports, the actress is well on her way to landing the female lead in the drama Chairman Kang The New Employee (신입사원 강회장)one of the channel's future flagship titles.
The synopsis
Adapted from a popular web novel by San Kyungalso author of Reborn Rich (The chaebol's youngest son)this new drama tells an intriguing story: Kang Yong-ho (to be played by Lee Joon-young), president of a gigantic conglomerate called Choi Sung Group, dies accidentally... only to find himself propelled into a second life as a simple trainee. A "remind life" scenario that mixes satire of the working world with an unexpected second chance.
Leading roles
If Jung Chaeyeon accepts the role, she will play a key character in this new life (probably a colleague or ally of Kang Yong-ho), within the company. The project is all the more eagerly awaited as the famous screenwriter Kim Soon-okwhose credits include The Penthouse, Temptation of Wife and Jang Bori is Here, has been announced as the new designer of the drama. Suffice to say that the tone will be intense, dramatic... and possibly explosive.
Since her debut in the group DIA, followed by notable appearances in I.O.I and Family by Choice, Jung Chaeyeon has proved that she can move effortlessly between stage and screen. From My First First Love on Netflix to Gold Spoon on MBC, via Beyond the bar currently airing on JTBC, she has taken on a series of leading roles with increasing accuracy.
As for Lee Joon-young, he has been offered a dual role that of Kang Yong-hopresident of an industrial giant ranked among the country's top 10 companies, and that of Hwang Jun Hyuna soccer player for whom sport was everything.
Former member of the U-KISSLee Jun Young has built a solid reputation as an actor since his debut in Avengers Social Club (tvN, 2017). He has distinguished himself with standout performances in secondary roles, such as the deserter in D.P. or the villain role in Mask Girl.
In 2024 and 2025, he further broadened his palette: he played a sweet, romantic young man in Goodbye Earth on Netflix, then a free spirit in Weak Hero Class 2. With each project, Lee Jun Young confirms his versatility and ability to reinvent himself.
Chairman Kang The New Employee is scheduled for release during the 2026 on JTBC. If the participation of Jung Chaeyeon and Lee Jun-young is confirmed, it will be further proof of her rise as a key actress of the new generation.
