Jun Ji-hyun finally quits drama "Koreans" alongside Lee Byung-hun

The actress Jun Ji-hyun will not be appearing in the drama Koreansthe South Korean remake of the FX-produced American series The Americans. According to an industry official quoted by Sports Chosun on November 4, "Jun Ji-hyun, who was in discussions to join the series, has finally decided to withdraw from the project."

An ambitious project turned upside down by the timetable

Directed by Ahn Gil-hoKoreans to stage Lee Byung-hunalready confirmed in the cast, in a spy thriller set in 1980s South Korea, under military dictatorship. The project, inspired by the Cold War setting of the original The Americans, promised to transpose the political tension and double life of the spies to a Korean context.

Jun Ji-hyun, who had already shared the screen with Lee Byung-hun in 1999's Happy Together, was this time to play her partner, no longer a sister, but a spy wife. The duet was highly anticipated. However, with the shooting of Koreans postponed, the actress had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict.

Jun Ji-hyun had already agreed to star in "Human X Gumiho (Ingan X Gumiho), another project in which she will star opposite Ji Chang-wookwhich will begin filming in March 2026.
