Announcements

It's news that makes fans of K-Dramas and spy thrillers shudder with anticipation: Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Byung-hun may soon be sharing the screen, more than 25 years after their last collaboration. The 2 stars are currently in talks to play the main couple in Koreans (working title), a Korean remake of the famous American drama The Americans.

26 years after Happy Together...

According to Korean media reports, Jun Ji-hyun has received an official offer for the female lead role. Her agency, PEACHY, has confirmed that it is seriously considering the project, but that no decision has yet been made. For his part, Lee Byung-hun is also in advanced negotiations for the male lead.

This project would mark the reunion of the two actors 26 years after the drama Happy Together (SBS, 1999), in which they played brother and sister. This time, the script would give them very different roles: a married couple... but also undercover spies.

The 2 actors in Happy Together

Koreans will be produced by Ahn Gil Ho, a well-known name on the small screen, thanks in particular to The Glory and Stranger. Unlike the American version, which took place in the U.S. during the Cold War of the 1980s, this Korean adaptation plunges viewers into the dark hours of South Korea's military dictatorshippromising high dramatic tension and a rich local historical context.
