The new « Climax »is set to make its debut on Genie TV / Disney+ on March 16, headlined by Ju Ji-hoon and Ha Ji-won. A political thriller with tragic overtones, the drama explores the meteoric rise of a prosecutor willing to immerse himself in the murkiest spheres of South Korean power.
At the center of the story, Bang Tae-seop, an ambitious prosecutor, decides to dive into an influential cartel to reach the top. But the closer he gets to the heart of the system, the more the ground seems to crack beneath his feet. Around him gravitates a gallery of equally determined characters, engaged in a struggle for survival where every choice can tip a destiny.

A climb to the top... on the edge of a precipice
The first teaser reveals a tense, almost suffocating atmosphere. In an image dominated by red, Bang Tae-seop stands alone at the highest point, the symbol of a man who has risked everything to achieve power. The fractured walls and broken structure, however, suggest an imminent fall.
The catchphrase sets the tone: «The higher he climbs, the deeper he falls. The more he desires, the closer he gets to the top.» This promise of an inevitable breaking point gives the title of the series its full meaning.
Ju Ji-hoon, recently seen in «Blood Free», «Light Shop» and «The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call», plays a man consumed by ambition. In the trailer, he calls out, «Do you know what it took for me to get here?» A line that hints at both the determination and the dark side of his character.
A war of influence at the top
Facing him, Ha Ji-won lends her features to Choo Sang-ah, former top star determined not to give up her position. I have no intention of stepping down«, she says, underlining her refusal to be ousted from the center of power and desire.
Nana becomes Hwang Jung-won, a secret fixer and unpredictable variable in the power equation. Oh Jung-se plays Kwon Jong-wook, a figure combining ambition, greed and strategic calculation in a chaebol succession battle. Lastly, Cha Joo-young plays influence broker Lee Yang-mi, who ratchets up the tension with a simple warning: «It all starts here.»
Directed by Lee Ji-won, known for the film «Miss Baek», «Climax» promises to go beyond simple crime or political drama. The series promises to be an intense and tragic portrait of the consequences of human choices, where rise and fall are sometimes just a step apart.
