The cast of the new romantic drama « One-of-a-Kind Romance »is becoming clearer. Alongside Joy (Red Velvet), Kim Hyun-jin, Shin Hyun-soo and Kang Na-eon have officially confirmed their participation in this eagerly-awaited project, adapted from a popular webtoon.
Thought up as an accessible, whimsical romantic comedy, the drama promises to play with a universal dream: to see an ordinary life turned upside down by a romance with a star.
An ordinary heroine in a world of celebrities
Joy plays the role of Gong Yu-il, a young woman in the midst of a job search, who works one odd job after another while trying to land a corporate position. Always smiling despite the difficulties, she secretly harbors a dream of becoming a writer. Her everyday life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that Tak Mu-yi, a huge movie star, is actually the very first fan of a novel she once wrote.
Tak Mu-yi is played by Kim Hyun-jin. A former child actor who has become a household name, he hides deep wounds behind his perfect image, including a traumatic experience of harassment. His meeting with Gong Yu-il, the author of the book that helped him through a dark period, marks the start of a relationship as sweet as it is unexpected.
Love, rivalries and well-kept secrets
Shin Hyun-soo plays Kang Hee-soo, a renowned chef with a warm smile. Talented, attentive and irreproachable on the surface, he shows boundless kindness to Gong Yu-il, who works alongside him in his restaurant. Yet behind this perfect facade, a certain mystery seems to lurk.
Kang Na-eon plays Joo Da-hong, an actress with a free and assertive personality. Both adored and criticized, she has had an unwavering admiration for Tak Mu-yi ever since their childhood bonding on a film set. This special relationship leads her into a rivalry with Gong Yu-il, adding further tension to the emotional triangle.
