The singer and actress Joy from the band Red Velvet could be making a comeback on the small screen with the romantic drama One-of-a-Kind Romancealongside Kim Hyun-jin.
A long-awaited return
According to Korean media reports, Joy has been offered the lead role in this drama adapted from Du Bu's webtoon of the same name. If she confirms her participation, this will be her second upcoming project, as she has already been announced in the cast of The Year We Turned 29 with Kim Hye-yoon.
Her last role was in 2022 in Once Upon a Small Town, a romantic comedy in which she co-starred with Choo Young-woo. Since then, Joy has concentrated on her musical career, notably with her solo mini-album From JOY, with Love.
An unexpected romance between a job-seeker and a star
In One-of-a-Kind Romance, Joy could play Kong Yu-ilis an ordinary young woman who dreams of becoming a writer. In the meantime, she works as a cashier in a convenience store. Her life is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Tak Mu-i (proposed to Kim Hyun-jin), a star actor who began his career as a child.
Convinced that she's his stalker after seeing her behind the counter, Tak Mu-i gradually grows closer to her... paving the way for a romance both tender and full of misunderstandings.
Behind the camera
The drama will be directed by Kim Jin-young (Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit) and written by Choi Ji-yeon (Devilish Joy, Thumping Spike). Scheduled for broadcast 2026.
With this project, Joy confirms her desire to resume her acting career, six years after her debut in The Liar and His Lover and landmark roles in Tempted and The One and Only.
A return that promises to seduce both long-time fans and fans of webtoon romances.
