Netflix has just unveiled a new project that promises to be as captivating as it is disturbing: Varietya drama series starring Son Ye-jin (Crash landing on you) and Jo Yuri (Squid game), under the direction of the talented Kim Yong-hoonalready acclaimed for Mask Girl and Beasts Clawing at Straws.

An incisive look at the K-pop industry
Variety explores the glittering and often dark underbelly of the Korean entertainment industry. At the heart of the plot, Sae EunCEO of an agency that launched the country's biggest idol group, ready to do anything to renew their contract and keep her crown. This complex and uncompromising role will be played by Son Ye-jinknown for her ability to blend into intense, nuanced characters.

Facing her, Jo Yurirecently seen in seasons 2 and 3 of Squid Game, will play Seung Heean obsessive fan willing to cross all boundaries to get closer to her favorite idol. A composition role that promises to reveal another facet of the former IZ*ONE member, between fascination, devotion and psychological drift.

Alongside Son Ye Jin and Jo Yuri, Netflix promises a gallery of colorful characters: managers, idols, fans, agents... All will participate in a human fresco centered on passion, power and the flaws of this glamorous world. The mix of veteran and up-and-coming actors promises intense chemistry and memorable ensemble performances.
Kim Yong-hoon, a master of social tension
Director and writer of the series, Kim Yong-hoon confirms his penchant for psychological narratives bordering on the social thriller. After exposing the excesses of appearance in Mask Girl, here he tackles the ruthless workings of K-pop and those who gravitate around it: star creators, passionate fans, opportunists... Variety's ambition: to shed light on the desires, sacrifices and obsessions that feed the industry.
