Just a few weeks before the release of " The Judge Returns" Ji Sung shared his impressions of this intense and meaningful new project. Adapted from a web novel, the drama follows Lee Han-young, a corrupt judge who, after being crushed by a manipulated case, is sent back ten years. This second chance gives him the opportunity to confront the powerful and seek the justice he was never able to defend.

Ji Sung plays the role of a magistrate with a tormented past, who suddenly returns to the days when he worked as a solitary judge. For him, this return to the past becomes both an inner journey and a confrontation with forces far greater than himself.

"A reflection on the right choice": Ji Sung reveals the soul of the drama
The actor explained why he had accepted the role: "I felt it wasn't just a story criticizing a particular case, but a deep reflection on what it means for a person to make the right choice." He describes a character traversed by a wide range of emotions, which he wanted to build on "a solid emotional base" to embody a man who falters but doesn't break.

Ji Sung also talks about his collaboration with his acting partners. Of Park Hee-soon, who plays the antagonist Kang Shin-jin, he confides, "Our scenes were thrilling and stimulating." About Won Jin-ah, who plays his character's ally Kim Jin-ah, he adds, "Her luminous energy immediately helped me focus and immerse myself in Han-young's emotions."
Concluding his remarks, he promises a drama where light finds its way even in the midst of chaos:
"This is a series that shows just how much justice can shine through darkness and tumult. I hope we can make your time enjoyable, even a little."

The Judge Returns will be broadcast on January 2, 2026 at 21:40 KST (still waiting for an OTT).
