Ji Chang Wook and Imada Mio confirmed in Merry Berry Love, a Korean-Japanese romance

CJ ENM made the news official on November 13: Ji Chang-wook will co-star with Japanese actress Imada Mio in Merry Berry Lovea romantic drama co-produced between Korea and Japan. The project, developed in partnership with Nippon TV, will be broadcast on Disney+ and promises a gentle, exotic blend of 2 cultures.

The story takes place on a Japanese island shrouded in mystery, where a Korean urban planner in the throes of soul-searching crosses paths with a passionate young farmer. An unexpected encounter that could well change their lives.

A cross-cultural romance on a Japanese island

Ji Chang-wook plays Lee Yoo-bin, a space planner whose career has recently been shattered. In search of perspective and a fresh start, he lands on this remote island where nothing ever really goes according to plan.

Facing him, Imada Mio plays Shirahama Karin, a farmer who grows strawberries with a determination as gentle as it is firm. Their relationship is born in a simple but charming setting, where the island's landscapes and traditions become the stage for an unexpected rapprochement.

An ambitious co-production between Korea and Japan

The drama is directed by Kim Soo-jung, known for the BL series "Semantic Error", and written by Lee Jae-yoon, screenwriter of "The Divorce Insurance". CJ ENM emphasized the scope of the project, designed to appeal to an international audience.

Lee Sang-hwa, chief producer of CJ ENM, said, "We're thrilled to be partnering with Nippon TV and Disney+ on a new global project." He added: "We want to deliver a production that transcends borders and languages so audiences around the world can feel the excitement and have fun, so look forward to it."

Merry Berry Love will be broadcast on Disney+ and Nippon TV (no date yet).
