tvN continues to unveil the completely chaotic universe of " Pro Bono " with a teaser as funny as it is unpredictable. The drama follows Kang David (played by Jeong Kyeong-ho), a former judge obsessed with success, who sees his career turned upside down when he is relegated to the pro bono team of a large law firm, a neglected section that pays absolutely nothing.
In this new teaser with a deliberately misleading tone, the video begins as if it were presenting a public interest campaign. Calm and collected, Kang David even defines the principle of pro bono: "providing legal services free of charge for the public good". But this veneer of respectability only lasts a few seconds.
Ambitious judge thrust into "free work" he refuses to accept
Kang David soon breaks down inside. The very idea of "public good" revolts him, and he launches into an inner anger that finally erupts: "Public good?! What's that got to do with me?" Then, unable to hold back, he literally explodes: "Zero fees! Zero revenues! It's literally a free trial! This ridiculous job, which pays nothing and makes no sense... I'm going to win it all! I'm going to win it all! Me, me, me! Me, me, me!"
His reaction, captured like a thunderclap, sets the tone for a drama that's at once incisive, zany and driven by an egocentric hero turned unwilling public-interest advocate.
A team stunned by its new superior
The sequence ends with the pro bono team watching from the first floor. Yoo Nan-hee (Seo Hye-won) is speechless: "Has he gone mad?" Beside her, Park Ki-bbeum (So Ju-yeon) prefers to put things into perspective, trying to see something positive in this outburst: "I think he means he's going to work hard."
These contrasting reactions foreshadow an explosive dynamic within the team, between misunderstanding, humor and misunderstandings. Pro Bono promises to be a fast-paced, offbeat judicial satire, with Jung Kyung-ho in top form.
The drama will begin airing on December 6 at 9:10pm KST on tvN and Netflix.
