Netflix set to unveil As You Stood By, an intense thriller where survival becomes a question of courage, solidarity... and despair. Adapted from the acclaimed novel Naomi and Kanako by Japanese writer Hideo Okuda, the drama follows 2 women trapped in an unbearable reality, ready to do anything to escape suffering, even commit the irreparable.

Friendship taken to the extreme
Jo Eun-su (performed by Jeon So-nee) is still haunted by a heavy trauma. One day, she witnesses an unimaginable scene at her best friend's house. Jo Hui-su (Lee Yoo-mi), a former children's book author now shattered by her husband's repeated violence. To save her, Eun-su devises a desperate plan: kill the man who is destroying her.

The first images reveal the emotional tension of the story: on the one hand, Eun-su tries to remain calm despite the fear that consumes her; on the other, Hui-su shows a blank face, marked by blows and pain. Between them, a relationship is forged that is as fragile as it is vital, an alliance born of despair, but driven by love and the will to survive.


Complex and disturbing characters
The violent husband, Noh Jin-pyo (Jang Seung-jo), is admired by the outside world, but is obsessive and brutal in private, denying his wife any freedom. Another man, Jang GangShe has the same face as him, but exudes a totally different aura, adding a mysterious dimension to the story.


Finally, Jin So-baek (Lee Moo-saeng), CEO of the Jin Gang Company, hides a dark past and remains an enigmatic figure, watching the two women closely while concealing his true intentions.
