The MBC channel has unveiled the first images of the script reading for its new romantic drama « In Your Radiant Season« confirming its broadcast date. The series stars Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop, two radically different ways of living and loving.
In Your Radiant Season recounts the encounter between Sunwoo Chan, a man who approaches each day as an enthusiastic summer vacation, and Song Ha-ran, a woman who has locked herself into an emotionally frozen life that resembles an endless winter.
A promising script and a solid cast
The first reading brought together director Jung Sang-hee, screenwriter Cho Sung-hee and a prestigious cast including Lee Sung-kyung, Chae Jong-hyeop, Lee Mi-sook, Kang Suk-woo, Han Ji-hyeon, Oh Ye-ju, Kwon Hyuk, Kim Tae-young and Jang Yong-won.
Lee Sung-kyung plays Song Ha-ran, the eldest of 3 sisters and artistic director at Nana Atelier, the country's most renowned high-end fashion house. She has brought to life a character marked by deep wounds, living withdrawn into herself. The actress confided: «The script came to life in a much more captivating way than I had imagined. It convinced me that this project will shine even brighter once on the set. I can't wait to create a beautiful series and present it to the public.»
Facing her, Chae Jong-hyeop plays Sunwoo Chan, character designer at a world-renowned animation studio. He brought a luminous energy to the reading, declaring, «Everything seemed much more alive than when I read it alone. Being surrounded by the other actors made the experience even more enjoyable.»
The rest of the cast enriches the drama universe. Lee Mi-sook plays Kim Na-na, legendary international fashion designer and grandmother of the three sisters, with a blend of authority and warmth.
Kang Suk-woo plays Park Man-jae, a retired barista who runs the neighborhood café “Shim”, bringing a daily sweetness and sketching a charming late-life romance.
Han Ji-hyeon plays the younger sister Song Ha-young, an energetic junior designer, while Oh Ye-ju plays the younger Song Ha-dam, more composed and mature, promising a rich, nuanced family dynamic.
Director Jung Sang-hee summed up the spirit of the project: «I believe this drama is above all about a heart capable of cherishing others. I hope everyone can be proud of the time spent on this work.»
In Your Radiant Season will be broadcast from February 20 at 9:50pm (KST) on MBC (waiting for an OTT).
