KBS2«s new daily drama, " Pearl in Red« promises to be a intense revenge thriller, is the story of two heroines who have nothing in common... except their desire to bring down the same family. Through a dark atmosphere and characters haunted by the past, the series explores how far we can go when we choose to live under another name to repair the irreparable.
Park Jin-hee and Nam Sang-ji embody these women who have lost everything and now move forward in the shadows, hiding their true identities to better achieve their goals.
Shattered lives rebuilt under false names
Park Jin-hee performs Kim Dan-hee, Dan-hee, a woman whose life is turned upside down when she discovers the tragic truth behind her twin sister's fate. Unable to continue living as she was, Dan-hee abandons her own existence and chooses to take the name of her missing sister. This radical choice marks the beginning of a long road to revenge, at the cost of her identity and her emotions.
Opposite her, Nam Sang-ji embodies Baek Jin-joo, A once bright and carefree young woman. A smiling student before the tragedy, she suddenly loses her whole family in an accident that turns her destiny upside down. To survive, and then strike back, Jin-joo erases her past and is reborn under the name of Chloe Lee, an internationally recognized brand consultant. Behind her elegance and self-assurance lies untouched pain, transformed into icy determination.
Unwilling allies in a game of make-believe
The new images unveiled by the production team highlight the complex relationship between Kim Dan-hee and Baek Jin-joo. Drawn to the same circle of power, that of the dreaded Adele family, the two women advance side by side, unaware of each other's true identities. Their bond constantly oscillates between mistrust, cooperation and silent confrontation.
The strength of Pearl in Red lies in this permanent psychological tension: each protects her own secret while seeking to expose those of others. The production stresses that this dynamic, reinforced by the intense chemistry between Park Jin-hee and Nam Sang-ji, will be one of the emotional pillars of the drama.
The drama will air from February 23 at 7:50pm (KST) on KBS2 (no OTT for the moment).
