The thriller « Mad Concrete Dreams »continues to unveil its central figures. After the presentation of Ha Jung-woo, the drama now highlights Im Soo-jung, who plays a determined wife whose quiet strength could well change the course of history.
Scheduled for broadcast in March, the drama explores the downfall of a debt-ridden homeowner, drawn unwillingly into a criminal spiral. But at the heart of this storm is a woman willing to do anything to protect her family.
A mother lucid in the face of collapse
Im Soo-jung plays Kim Sun, Ki Soo-jong's wife and mother of a young hearing-impaired daughter, Da-rae. A former nurse, she put her career on hold to devote herself fully to her daughter's education, with the ambitious goal of enabling her to study abroad.
Described as a «mother of steel», Kim Sun never lets her emotions overwhelm her. Pragmatic and with a keen sense of reality, she keeps her cool even when the foundations of her life begin to falter. When her husband takes out large loans to buy a building, Kim Sun's certainties gradually crack.
Her view of Ki Soo-jong's actions changes: suspicions, silences and strange behavior awaken in her a protective instinct. Refusing to remain a spectator, she decides to act to secure her daughter's future, even if it means making unexpected decisions.
A presence that redefines the couple's equilibrium
The first images unveiled show Kim Sun in simple family moments, smiling and serene. But gradually, her expression becomes more opaque, revealing the tensions to come. This contrast heralds a strong inner evolution, marked by choices that could exceed her husband's own expectations.
