The highly anticipated drama “Human X Gumiho”(working title) continues to take shape with the announcement of new cast members. Following the confirmation of Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook, a number of actors have been added to the cast of this romantic comedy fantasy scheduled for JTBC.
On April 2, the production announced the presence of Cha Joo-young, Kang You-seok, Kim Jong-soo and Kim Min-seok, as well as special appearances by Hwang In-yeop, Seolhyun and Lee Jae-in.
This project is already attracting attention thanks to its original concept and the creative team behind the camera.
A fantastic romance between human and mythical creature
“Human X Gumiho” tells the story of Gu Ja-hong, a seductive entity capable of bewitching humans, played by Jun Ji-hyun. She crosses paths with Choi Seok, a man who irresistibly attracts mythical creatures, played by Ji Chang-wook.
Their meeting, dictated by fate, gives rise to a relationship blending romance, mystery and supernatural elements.
The drama is directed by Kim Jung-sik, known for “No Gain No Love” and “Strong Girl Namsoon”, and written by Im Meari, whose credits include such popular rom-coms as “Beauty Inside” and “Doom at Your Service”.
A rich cast and intriguing characters
Cha Joo-young plays Ji Woo-gyeong, director of an entertainment agency and trusted ally of Gu Ja-hong, whose true identity she knows.
Kang You-seok plays Go Tae-seung, deputy director of a museum and childhood friend of Ji Chang-wook's character, who stays by his side despite an increasingly difficult situation.
Kim Jong-soo plays Choi Seok's grandfather, while Kim Min-seok plays Beom-yi, a 500-year-old tiger who ends up living with the two men, adding a touch of humor and whimsy.
The drama will also feature several striking special appearances. Hwang In-yeop will play a mythical three-legged dog, a natural enemy of the gumiho, nursing an ancient grudge. Seolhyun and Lee Jae-in will play supernatural beings gravitating around the main characters.
With its rich universe and varied cast, “Human X Gumiho” promises to be one of the most ambitious dramas yet. It is scheduled for broadcast in the first half of 2027.
