“Human X Gumiho”: Cha Joo-young in talks to join Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook

Cha Joo-young could soon be joining one of the most eagerly awaited projects of the year. On March 3, a media outlet revealed that the actress was being considered to join the cast of the new romantic fantasy drama “Human X Gumiho”(working title), alongside Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook.

His agency GHOST STUDIO reacted by stating, «Cha Joo-young is favorably considering the casting proposal for JTBC's new drama ‘Human X Gumiho’.» A cautious response, but one that confirms that discussions are indeed underway.

A fantastic romance at the crossroads of destiny

“Human X Gumiho” tells the story of Gu Ja-hong (Jun Ji-hyun), a seductive entity who bewitches humans, and Choi Seok (Ji Chang-wook), a man who irresistibly attracts mythical creatures. Their destiny-filled encounter promises a romance tinged with fantasy and humor.

The project brings together director Kim Jung-sik, known for “No Gain No Love” and “Strong Girl Namsoon”, and screenwriter Im Meari, already behind several successful rom-coms such as “Beauty Inside” and “Doom at Your Service”.

Cha Joo-young's proposed role

According to reports, Cha Joo-young has been offered the role of Ji Woo-gyeong, sole heiress to a chaebol family and CEO of Woo Gyeong Entertainment. She is also said to be the agency head of star Gu Ja-hong... who happens to be a 2,000-year-old gumiho.

A character who could add an interesting dynamic between the human world, economic power and mythology.

Shooting of “Human X Gumiho” is due to start in mid-March.
