The rising actress Hong Hwa-yeon could soon be taking her career to the next level. According to several sources in the Korean entertainment industry, she has been chosen to play the lead role in the upcoming drama “The Final Table”where she will give the reply to Ahn Hyo-seop.
The series will tell the story of an international cooking competition called “The Table: K Chef 2026”, organized to choose the best Korean chef. Cooks from all over the world come together to compete, bringing with them not only their culinary talents, but also their personal stories.
A story of cuisine... and family heritage
In the drama, Hong Hwa-yeon is set to play Choi Song-i, a young woman determined to preserve the restaurant left by her late father.
For his part, Ahn Hyo-seop will play Kang Han, a Korean chef known as Chris K, whose path should soon cross that of Song-i. The family restaurant and culinary competition should become the focal point of their relationship and the drama's stakes.

An actress on the rise
This new project could confirm the growing popularity of Hong Hwa-yeon. Since its debut in 2022 in Mental Coach Jegal-gil, the actress gradually made a name for herself with the general public.
She attracted particular attention thanks to the drama “Buried Hearts”, where she starred opposite Park Hyung-sik, which helped her gain visibility with a wider audience. Since then, several projects have followed, including “Tastefully Yours” on ENA and “Running Mate” on TVING. Another drama, “Secret Audit” on tvN, is also expected soon.
The chemistry between Hong Hwa-yeon and Ahn Hyo-seop should also be one of the most eagerly awaited elements of the series.
The actor is currently enjoying renewed international attention after lending his voice to the character Jin-woo in the animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters”, which won two Oscars (Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature) at the 98th Academy Awards. Ahn Hyo-seop was present at the ceremony.
With this new global exposure, many wonder whether the duo he will form with Hong Hwa-yeon will enable the actress to establish herself definitively as one of the new rising stars of K-dramas.
The drama “The Final Table” is currently being prepared for broadcast on JTBC.
