ENA continues to expand its 2025 line-up with Heroes Next Doora series that promises an explosive mix of action, humor and camaraderie. The drama follows former Special Forces soldiers who find themselves... not defending the country, but protecting their families and neighborhoods. A refreshing twist on the military hero theme.
Two former soldiers, a neighborhood and an unlikely investigation
Yoon Kye-sang plays Choi Kang, a strong-willed insurance investigator, while Jin Sun-kyu lends his features to Kwak Byung-nam, a former technical specialist turned head of the local youth association. Their unlikely duo is the driving force behind this action-comedy.
The new teaser unveiled by the channel shows their first confrontation. Kwak Byung-nam, in the middle of a neighborhood patrol, inspects the garbage cans and suggests that someone "not the type to play with a stuffed rabbit or litter in this way" is suspicious. Choi Kang replies suspiciously: "Are you accusing me?"
The tension rises a notch when Choi Kang is indignant: "Do I look like the kind of guy who would open a stuffed toy with a knife?" To which Kwak Byung-nam replies, "How did you know it had been opened?" Choi Kang explodes: "Because I just saw it!"
Humor, misunderstandings and an explosive duo from the very first episode
On his way back to examine the garbage, Choi Kang notices that there could be cat's hair in it, which would explain his sneezing, a clue that casts doubt on the real culprit. This scene, full of awkwardness, false accusations and lively exchanges, perfectly sums up the drama's humor.
"Heroes Next Door" relies on strong comic chemistry between its two lead actors, promising a light, fast-paced series where defending the neighborhood becomes a mission as absurd as it is entertaining.
The drama will start this November 17 at 10 p.m. KSTunfortunately without OTT for international broadcast. One thing's for sure: this duo of ex-soldiers is going to make sparks fly in their little neighborhood. Stay tuned!
