The magic of rom-coms according to Kim Eun-sook

When asked about this project, the screenwriter explains that she wanted to offer a "stress-free, frustration-free, fantastically familiar romantic comedy". For her, the genre holds a unique power: "Romantic comedies have that magic of making the heart beat as you watch great actors express love, sometimes sweetly, sometimes awkwardly. They allow us to forget the fatigue of everyday life, to laugh, to cry and to heal."

Kim Eun-sook also spoke of the complexity of the main characters. Genie, she explains, is "a role of rare intensity, capable of moving from charisma to ridicule, from vulnerability to irresistible charm. It requires the actor to explore every possible emotion."

About Ka Young, the screenwriter emphasizes her ambivalence: "She may seem icy cold, almost devoid of emotion, but deep down she embodies human goodness."

Kim Woo-bin and Suzy in the spotlight

Kim Eun-sook was full of praise for her two leads. Kim Woo-bin, she says, "had to show a face that was mischievous, seductive, distant, but above all in love. Watching him play, I finally understood why they say he has a thousand faces." As for Suzy, the scriptwriter was moved by her enthusiasm: "Despite the difficulty of the role, she told me she was really excited about playing it. That reassured me enormously.
