«Fifties Professionals»: Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae return to action in the teaser for the offbeat action comedy

MBC took advantage of the 2025 MBC Drama Awards to reveal the very first teaser from « Fifties Professionals«A new series combining action and comedy, carried by a trio of actors who are as charismatic as they are unpredictable. Behind its lighthearted tone, however, lies a story of broken destinies, buried memories... and revenge.

Three forgotten men, but never truly out of the game

Fifties Professionals follows three middle-aged men whom the world mistakenly believes to be ordinary. Once at the top of their respective fields, they find themselves exiled to the the isolated island of Yeongseon after a mysterious incident that occurred ten years earlier. There, they try to survive under new identities, while seeking to understand what turned their lives upside down.

Shin Ha-kyun embodies Jung Ho-myung, a former elite agent of the National Intelligence Service. The victim of a setup, he now lives in hiding as the owner of a thriving Chinese restaurant on the island, while secretly pursuing the “object” that caused his downfall.

At his side, Oh Jung-se play Bong Je-soon, a former North Korean special agent formerly known as “Bulgae”, the North's most formidable human weapon. Suffering from amnesia after an accident on a mission, he too ends up in Yeongseon, attempting to rebuild his identity under the watchful eye of an oppressive superior.

Finally, Heo Sung-tae lends his features to Kang Beom-ryong, a legendary former gangster turned convenience store manager. Formerly the second-in-command of the formidable Hwasang gang, he arrives on the island driven by a desire for revenge, ready to do anything to restore his former power and remain loyal to his imprisoned boss.

A teaser combining nostalgia, action, and second chances

The teaser begins in the past, when Ho-myung is given a crucial mission, accompanied by the words: «You are the only one capable of carrying out this mission.» To which he replies, resignedly: «This is the last time, right?»

The scene then shifts to the present, showing the three men leading seemingly ordinary lives, while a message appears on the screen: «We have been forgotten, but we have not disappeared.»

The video ends with a meaningful voiceover: «Hey... we're only halfway there.»

Between subtle humor, restrained action, and unapologetic melancholy, Fifties Professionals promises to be an original reflection on second chances, carried by characters who refuse to disappear without a fight.

The drama is expected to air on first half of 2026.
