TV CHOSUN's new drama « Doctor Shin » has unveiled a particularly intense teaser, giving a first glimpse of this series that blends medical thriller, romance and mystery. Starring Jung E-chan, Baek Seo-ra, An Woo-yeon and Joo Se-bin, the drama promises an unusual story where the limits of medicine and human emotions intertwine.
The plot follows a brilliant doctor who dares to push back the frontiers of medicine, venturing into a field once considered reserved for the gods. At his side is a woman whose brain is suddenly damaged overnight, leading to a slow loss of identity and soul.
Also at the heart of the story is a complex romance revolving around a star who falls into a coma after a tragic accident, involving a man who once loved her and another who still does. Between desire, taboo and sacrifice, the series explores intense feelings and morally troubling choices.
A mysterious and disturbing teaser
The teaser opens with an unsettling scene: a person dances on a red carpet, while a chilling question rings out: «Can you give Momo an injection that would stop his breathing?»
Shortly thereafter, Shin Joo-shin (Jung E-chan) hesitantly declares, «I feel embarrassed... trying to do something I've never done before.»
Momo (Baek Seo-ra) simply replies, «Don't.»
The teaser also introduces Ha Yong-joong (An Woo-yeon), creator of the hit game Lost Knights. He seems to be addressing a message to Geum Ba-ra (Joo Se-bin), while a flashback shows the young woman in high school, her face covered in wounds.
In one striking scene, she begs: «Just hit her ten times in front of me. Honestly, I'm not that attached to life.»
Ha Yong-joong replied: «I thought you'd been raised like a princess. I was wrong.»
Geum Ba-ra smiles enigmatically.
A story of love, obsession and sacrifice
The tension is ratcheted up a notch when Shin Joo-shin embraces Momo, who is wearing a hat, under the flashbulbs of journalists. In stark contrast, Ha Yong-joong runs through the snow holding Momo's hand.
The teaser concludes with an unsettling line: «Even if I end up like Momo, I'm fine with it. Just do it, and leave the result in heaven.»
The production team explains: «Through this second teaser, we wanted to show a “brain-changing drama” that moves between love, desire, taboo and sacrifice», promising «a totally new experience for viewers».
The drama Doctor Shin will be broadcast from March 14 at 22:30 (KST) on TV CHOSUN.
