KBS2 unveils new images dedicated to the supporting characters of « To My Beloved Thief«, a historical drama in which destinies dangerously intertwine. While Hong Eun-jo (Nam Ji-hyun), a healer by day and a thief by night, sees her life turned upside down by a soul swap with Prince Yi-yeol (Moon Sang-min), new characters enter the scene to shape (or break) their future.
Power, ambition, and secrets at the heart of the royal court
Choi Won-young plays Im Sa-hyeong, the chief of the royal secretaries, a man whose authority is surpassed only by that of the king. Skilled at guessing the king's intentions and obsessed with his own survival, he hides dark ambitions behind a rigid facade and a falsely benevolent tone. Every word is calculated, every gesture controlled, making him an unpredictable element capable of upsetting the balance of power.
Ha Seok-jin is transformed into King Yi-gyu of Joseon, a central character with two sides. Born to a fallen queen, he learned to survive by hiding his origins and exploiting his keen intelligence. On the one hand, he seeks to forge an image of himself as a just ruler; on the other, he harbors a desire for absolute power. This duality promises to cause major shockwaves, both for the court and for those around him.
Family, loyalty, and unconditional love
As for Hong Eun-jo, Kim Suk-hoon plays his father, Hong Min-jik, an upright man, incapable of compromising his principles. Confronted with violence and plots at court, he ends up being destroyed, consumed by guilt for having dragged his family into chaos. His love for his daughter, who now bears the burden of the household in his place, is all the more poignant.
Kim Jong-nam appears in Queen Dowager, mother of Yi-yeol and mother-in-law of King Yi-gyu. Fiercely protective of her son, she remains wary of the king's tyrannical tendencies and continues to watch over Yi-yeol from the shadows.
Finally, Seo Young-hee lends his features to Chun Seom, Hong Eun-jo's mother. A gentle but resilient woman, she has always supported her husband through adversity and put her family above all else. Her unwavering support for her daughter brings essential emotional warmth to a story dominated by intrigue and conflict.
To My Beloved Thief will be broadcast from January 3 at 9:20 p.m. (KST) on KBS2 (awaiting international distribution).
