The highly anticipated drama Dear X has just revealed its first trailer, and the images are already catching the eye. Kim Yoo-jung plays a two-faced heroine, at once an adored star and a woman ready to do anything to keep control of her destiny.
From glory to downfall
Adapted from a successful webtoon, Dear X follows the meteoric rise of Baek Ah-jin (Kim Yoo-jung), a young actress who rose from the bottom of the ladder to the top of the industry, even if it meant unscrupulously using those who crossed her path. But behind the glitter of the spotlight lurks a darker side, a spiral of violence and betrayal that threatens to bring her down.
At his side, Kim Young-dae plays Yoon Joon-seo, a man ready to plunge into hell to protect her, despite the darkness she engenders around her.
A blood-curdling teaser
The teaser opens with a haunting voiceover by Baek Ah-jin: "Let me reach the highest peak. Let every moment become an opportunity that shapes me." Poetic words carried by the image of a radiant star, bathed in light.
But the tone quickly changes. Suspicious glances, a voice whispering "Did you see her eyes? Something's not right...", and then one image follows another: a cold, implacable Kim Yoo-jung ordering "Get down on your knees and beg". The shock comes when we see her, her face stained with blood, beating without mercy.
Yoon Joon-seo's deep voice echoes: "For every person you've hurt, you'll live in misery for the rest of your life. But Baek Ah-jin, adamant, promises: "I'll climb so high that no one will ever dare touch me again."
The trailer ends with a chilling question, almost a manifesto: "What's wrong with thinking of yourself first?"
A dark drama announced for November
Part destructive romance, part portrait of a woman consumed by ambition, Dear X is shaping up to be one of the most intense dramas of the year. Broadcasting is scheduled for November on TVING (international confirmation pending).
