Low Life is one of Disney +'s many original Korean series. To be broadcast from July 16, Low Life is a drama in which Yang Se-jong (Doona!, Still 17) takes a radical turn as Oh Hee-dong. This character, very different from those he has played in the past, marks a major change in his career, propelling him into the role of a small-time crook on a dangerous quest to recover sunken treasure.

An unexpected character for Yang Se-jong
Yang Se-jong plays Oh Hee-dong, a man who grew up in poverty and learned from an early age to survive by petty theft and scams. Raised by his uncle, played by Ryu Seung-ryong, he embarks on a perilous adventure to find precious ceramics hidden in the waters of the Sinan Sea. This role marks a complete break with his previous screen appearances, in which he mainly played softer, more romantic characters.

A physical and emotional transformation
The first photos of Low Life reveal an impressive transformation of Yang Se-jong. With his long hair and intense gaze, he plays a much tougher, more determined character than fans are used to.
Yang Se-jong confides that he was totally seduced by the script: "The script really excited me, it made my heart race!" The role, he says, pushed him to explore bolder and more complex facets of his character's psychology: "I learned a lot on set with director Kang Yoon Sung. When we shaped and brought Oh Hee-dong to life together, I really felt that the character was alive."
Working with the director Kang Yoon-sung was an enriching experience for him, adding depth to his interpretation. "In his previous works, Yang Se-jong has appeared as a clean-cut young man. I thought viewers would find it even more refreshing to see him play a powerful role like that of Oh Hee-dong," explains the director.
