Choi Hyun-wook in talks for new drama from the director of Ms. Incognito

Actor Choi Hyun-wook could well follow up with a 4th drama project in the pipeline. On November 10, YTN Star reported that Choi Hyun-wook had been cast in the lead role of the upcoming K-drama By the River Swarming with Evilthe new work by director Park Yoo-young.

An occult drama of love and darkness

By the River Swarming with Evil is described as an occult drama blending mystery and romance. The story will follow a shaman and an ordinary man who simply want to live a quiet life and fall in love.

The drama will be directed by Park Yoo-young, whose credits include Ms. Incognito, The Kidnapping Day and A Model Family. Choi Hyun-wook has reportedly been offered the role of Yoo Myung-woo, a man marked by a difficult past, whose only wish is to live like everyone else.

The series will be produced by A Storybut the broadcast date and channel have not yet been confirmed.

An accelerating career

In 2025, Choi Hyun-wook starred in the romantic comedy My Dearest Nemesis, alongside Moon Ga-young, Im Se-mi, Kwak Shi-yang, Ban Hyo-jung and Kim Young-ah. He also appeared in Weak Hero Class 2.

He recently made his debut at with the Netflix film Mantis. And next year is already shaping up to be a busy one: he is expected to appear in the dramas Notes from the Last Row, Delusion and Perfect Job. If her participation in By the River Swarming with Evil is confirmed, this will be her 4th upcoming project.

Since his debut in 2019, Choi Hyun-wook has appeared in a number of acclaimed dramas, including High Cookie, Twinkling Watermelon, D.P. 2, Weak Hero Class 1, Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Racket Boys.
