The next Netflix drama « Beauty in the Beast »(working title) begins to reveal itself through the images of its very first script reading. This fantasy romance with a youthful atmosphere blends mystery, emotions and the supernatural, anchored in the chaotic everyday life of university life.
Produced by Jin Hyukknown for The Legend of the Blue Sea, and written by Gin Han Sai (Extracurricular, Glitch), the series brings together Kim Min-ju, Lomon and Moon Sang-min in a central trio of sharply contrasting dynamics.
Kim Min-ju, a heroine hiding more than just a secret
Kim Min-ju plays Ha Min-soo, a young woman capable of transforming herself into a wolf. A gift (or curse) that she has concealed since childhood, having been brought up with the strictest restraint to avoid any loss of control. Behind this imposed discipline, Min-soo remains a curious young woman, eager to discover and driven by a simple but powerful desire: to live an ordinary life.
Her entry into university marks a turning point. For the first time, Min-soo is confronted with a new world, full of temptations, unexpected relationships and feelings she has always learned to suppress. The script reading has already highlighted the character's duality, between contained fragility and thirst for freedom.
2 male heroes with opposing characters
Opposite her, Moon Sang-min plays Hae-jun, an older student with an intimidating aura. His cold gaze and stern expression contrast with a surprisingly gentle personality, to the point of earning him the nickname «Big Puppy». Usually indifferent to others, Hae-jun finds himself inexplicably intrigued by Min-soo, whose strange behavior arouses a persistent curiosity in him.
Lomon plays the role of Do-ha, a werewolf who's the complete opposite of Min-soo. Free, instinctive and impulsive, Do-ha acts on his impulses, never holding back. The way Min-soo stifles his emotions frustrates him as much as it attracts him, creating a singular tension between two beings whom everything seems to oppose.
The script reading revealed an already palpable chemistry between the three actors, promising a tale where romance, identity and self-acceptance intertwine in a modern fantasy setting.
Beauty in the Beast will soon be broadcast on Netflix (it was announced 2027, but perhaps we can hope for 2026).
