tvN's next drama « Our Universe »unveils its first images focusing on Bae In-hyuk, who plays Sun Tae-hyung, a seemingly brusque but deeply sensitive young man. The story follows a brother and sister-in-law forced to live together to raise their 20-month-old nephew, Woo-joo, after the sudden disappearance of their elders.
Sun Tae-hyung works as a photographer's assistant. Always labeled as an “assistant”, he nevertheless possesses enough talent to make the main photographer jealous. Behind his bright smile and prickly good looks lies a past he's never been able to put behind him. The first images show him concentrated behind his camera, but also more vulnerable than ever in his private life.
First-time parents and unexpected emotions
The biggest surprise of Our Universe lies in Sun Tae-hyung's unexpected day-to-day life as a novice parent. Carrying a baby on his back, his nephew in his arms, he seems overwhelmed by the unpredictable situations Woo-joo throws at him. His hesitant gaze and awkward attitude perfectly convey this mixture of confusion, tenderness and sudden responsibility.
Bae In-hyuk explained what attracted him to the project: «I was touched by the realistic way the drama shows a tutor who is not comfortable with children. What happens when he starts living with Woo-joo is both amusing and endearing, and Woo-joo's cuteness is really part of the show's charm.»
He also adds, «By shooting, I got to experience some of the childcare, and it made me respect parents even more. Being a parent is an incredible thing, and it also made me understand what responsibility really means.»
Through this clumsy but sincere character, Our Universe promises a sweet, human romance, driven by forced cohabitation, improvised family ties and the little everyday moments that change lives.
Our Universe will be broadcast from February 4 on tvN and on Viki.
