The JTBC channel has unveiled a promising first teaser for its upcoming romantic drama « Efficient Dating for Singles« an adaptation of a popular webtoon. The series features Han Ji-min as Lee Ui-young, a woman who decides to take her love life into her own hands by entering the world of blind dates.
But what was supposed to be a rational quest for love soon becomes complicated. Meeting 2 men with diametrically opposed personalities, Ui-young finds herself caught up in a love triangle as unexpected as it is disturbing, forcing her to question her vision of love and her own desires.
An elevator scene full of unease and memories
The teaser opens with a situation as simple as it is effective: Lee Ui-young enters an elevator. There she first meets Song Tae-seob, played by Park Sung-hoon, a warm, caring man with whom she shared a reassuring first date. But the mood changes when Shin Ji-soo, played by Lee Ki-taek, joins the elevator. Free, spontaneous and unpredictable, he's the exact opposite of Tae-seob.
The enclosed space immediately becomes electric. Eyes meet, Ui-young wavers between embarrassment and panic, while the two men watch each other warily. The tension is ratcheted up a notch when they begin to discuss their respective memories with her. Then Ji-soo says: «Did you get home all right that day?», Tae-seob's response: "I'm so happy to be with you...", conjuring up in Ui-young's mind the memory of an intimate moment spent with him on a playground. Tae-seob immediately retorts: «You left your clothes at my place yesterday», accompanied by a sweet home rendezvous scene.
Completely overwhelmed, Ui-young closes her eyes, unable to face the situation. The elevator screen then displays a meaningful question: «Who will you choose?». An effective hook that promises a drama centered on hesitations of the heart and impossible choices.
Efficient Dating for Singles will be broadcast from February 28 on JTBC.
