What happens when a 21st-century French chef finds herself thrown 500 years into the past... to cook for a tyrant? That's the whole concept of the new drama Bon Appétit, Your Majestysoon to be broadcast on tvN in August. With Lim YoonA in the lead role and Lee Chae-min as an authoritarian king, this series promises to be as delightful as it is dangerous.
A fantastical romance in the royal kitchens
Adapted from a best-selling web novel, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty (폭군의 셰프) is a romantic fantasy comedy in which Yeon Ji-young (Lim YoonA), a brilliant French chef, slips through time to find herself in a Korea of yesteryear. There, she crosses paths with Lee Heon (Lee Chae-min), a feared ruler renowned for his refined taste... and ruthless sentences.
The production is signed Jang Tae-yoodirector of acclaimed dramas such as My Love from the Star and Painter of the Wind. We can therefore expect a polished, immersive production.
Posters that whet the appetite... and the tension
The first poster unveiled today shows a striking contrast: in the heart of a bustling royal kitchen, Yeon Ji Young cooks with concentration, his white chef's uniform in stark contrast to the historic setting. Below, King Lee Heon sits contentedly at a sumptuous table combining Korean and Western cuisine.
"Let's prepare the greatest feast that even a tyrant will never forget."

Two other posters reveal more of the characters' psychology:
- Yeon Ji-young confides, "I always dreamed of being a three-star chef... today, I'm the chef of a tyrant."
- While Lee Heon issues a chilling warning: "If just one day, I don't like the food... it will be the death penalty."


A drama of survival, flavor and romantic tension
The pitch for the series? She has to cook to stay alive. He's obsessed with taste. Together, they will forge a unique relationship, between culinary challenges and unexpected closeness. The drama promises a tasty alchemy of romance, humor and suspense... and could well become the "K-drama comfort food back to school.
With its seductive cast, prestigious direction and original blend of cuisine and time travel, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is sure to appeal to fans of gourmet, romantic dramas. The production even promises a "soul food As French kdramavores, we're also waiting to see how French cuisine will be seen and whether our dear YoonA will speak a little French in this series!
