Since its launch in January, the medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call has captured the hearts of audiences around the world. Today, rumors of a season 2 (and even a season 3) are multiplying... but Netflix is tempering expectations.

Rumors, cautious denials
On September 23, Korean media outlet Xports News announced that Netflix had given the go-ahead for the production of seasons 2 and 3 of the drama. Enough to make fans jump for joy. But a few hours later, a Netflix spokesperson, interviewed by Edaily, qualified: "We are currently looking into the possibility of a sequel to The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, but nothing has been confirmed yet."
A clear message: there's hope, but it's not enough. no official decision has yet to be taken.
The idea for a sequel didn't come out of the blue. The author of the original web novel, Lee Nak-joon, confided on his YouTube channel that the TV adaptation had been designed from the outset with several seasons in mind. This statement rekindles fans' enthusiasm, especially as the end of the first season deliberately left room for new developments.
The success of a drama like no other
Airing in January, The Trauma Code follows the brilliant surgeon Baek Gang-hyeok (performed by Ju Ji-hoon), known for having operated in the most dangerous war zones. Back in Korea, he takes charge of a medical team in need of resources at a university hospital. Between intense emergencies, human dilemmas and internal struggles, the series combines dramatic tension and emotion.
It was a huge success, both with the public and the critics. The Trauma Code won 3 prizes during Blue Dragon Series Awards Best Drama, Best Actor (Ju Ji-hoon) and Best New Male Actor (Choo Young-woo). And at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards, Ju Ji Hoon won Best Actor in a TV Series.
An inevitable sequel?
With such an impressive track record and a loyal international fanbase, the question is perhaps not so much if a sequel is on the way, but when. As we await an official announcement from Netflix, fans continue to share their theories, and the anticipation is only growing. Stay tuned!
