MBC has confirmed the main cast for its upcoming action drama « A Bona Fide Killer »(working title), scheduled for release in July.
Adapted from a popular webtoon, the series will tell the story of a mother leading a particularly dangerous double life: office worker by day, legendary killer by night.
Gong Hyo-jin as a mother... and a formidable killer
Gong Hyo-jin plays Yu Bo-na, an ordinary employee working in the sales team of an electronics company. But behind this banal exterior lies «Kingfisher», a legendary killer charged with eliminating criminals who have escaped justice.
Back at work after maternity leave, Yu Bo-na must juggle her life as a mother, her office job and her dangerous secret missions.
This dual identity promises one of the most unexpected transformations of Gong Hyo-jin's career.
Jung Jun-won as her journalist husband
Opposite her, Jung Jun-won plays Kwon Tae-sung, an investigative journalist and devoted husband. A caring father and exemplary husband, he is also known for his determined stance when it comes to denouncing injustice.
Ironically, he once covered up the activities of «Kingfisher» and is gradually getting closer to the truth, unaware that the person he's looking for shares his daily life.

MBC has also confirmed the participation of Lee Sang-yi, who will play Lee Dong-jin, a detective in the violent crime unit at Nambu police station.
According to the character's presentation, Lee Dong-jin knows the suffering of victims better than anyone, and firmly believes in justice through law rather than personal vengeance. Determined to stop Kingfisher, he will devote all his energy to finding the mysterious killer.
The actor reunites with director Yoon Jong-ho, with whom he had already collaborated on the success of «Lovely Runner».
The veteran Sung Dong-il will play Kim Bong-pal, head of the sales team where Yu Bo-na works.
Beneath his appearance as a benevolent colleague nicknamed «Bong Fool», he actually hides a wealth of combat experience and will become one of the heroine's main allies in her double life.
Lovely Runner« director at the helm
The project is also attracting attention thanks to its creative team. The director is Yoon Jong-ho, director of «Lovely Runner», while the screenplay is by Kim Eun-hee, known for her work on «Ghost Doctor» and «Live Up to Your Name».
MBC promises an original mix of family comedy, action and crime-fighting.
«A Bona Fide Killer» is due in July on MBC.
