Ryu Jun-yeol could soon be making his return to Netflix with an ambitious new project. According to reports, the actor has been cast in the lead role of the drama “Outback”.
This new series is based on the webtoon “Geudae” (Korean title), a mystery thriller published on the Lezhin Comics platform. The original story follows a man who travels to Australia in search of his missing sister, where he crosses paths with an enigmatic individual named Hans.
With this adaptation, Netflix is once again banking on a dark and intriguing tale.

A villainous role at the heart of the story
Ryu Jun-yeol is to play Hans, a central character in the story. In the original work, Hans is presented as an antagonist, which suggests an intense and potentially different interpretation in the dramatic version.
The actor's choice for the role is already arousing curiosity, not least as to how the character will be adapted and developed on screen.
Ryu Jun-yeol has been very active of late, with one project after another. He is also expected to star in another Netflix series scheduled for the second half of the year, confirming a particularly busy period in his career.
“Outback” will be produced by Shortcake studio, with direction entrusted to Jeon Du-kwan, known for his work on “SIN: Strange Stories”.
