The drama “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier”continues to gear up, with a first script reading that brought together the entire cast in an atmosphere both solemn and promising.
For the occasion, the actors appeared in military uniform, marking their immersion in this world from the very start of the project. This first meeting was also emotionally charged, as it took place on June 25, the symbolic date of the start of the Korean War in 1950. A moment of silence was observed to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.
This particular setting gave an extra dimension to this first stage of the drama.

A cast already convincing on first reading
Scriptwriter Choi Ryong, himself a former army cook, shared his excitement about the project: “Back when I was serving as an army cook, I never imagined I'd experience a moment like this. Being in charge of ‘The Legend of Kitchen Soldier’ and getting this far is a very new experience for me.”
During playback, Park Ji-hoon stood out in the role of Kang Sung-jae, a benevolent and persevering soldier confronted with unexpected supernatural phenomena.

Yoon Kyung-ho also made his mark as Staff Sergeant Park Jae-young, mixing arrogance and humanity to perfection.

For her part, Han Dong-hee imposed a calm, authoritative presence in the role of Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, a straightforward, determined character.

Lee Hong-nae perfectly played Sergeant Yoon Dong-hyun, an experienced cook nearing the end of his tour of duty. Lee Sang-yi, in a special appearance, drew attention to himself as a demanding commander with a difficult temperament.

With an already solid cast and a chemistry visible from this first reading, “The Legend of Kitchen Soldier” is shaping up to be a drama to watch.
The series will air from May 11 at 8:50pm (Korean time), and will be available on Viki, according to our initial information.
