The drama “My Royal Nemesis”continues to unveil its universe with striking new images from Lim Ji-yeon as Kang Dan-shim, a formidable antagonist of the Joseon era.
In this romantic comedy blending past and present, the actress also plays Shin Seo-ri, a modern actress whose body is possessed by the spirit of the famous villainess. Opposite her, Heo Nam-joon plays a ruthless chaebol heir.
These new images plunge straight into the tragic past of Kang Dan-shim's character.
An intense scene of anger and survival
The photos show Kang Dan-shim facing one of the most dramatic moments of her life: an attempted execution by poison.
As she leaves the palace with apparent calm, tension mounts when she discovers the poison intended for her. Her expression shifts between shock, anger and determination.
On her knees, she stares intently at her fate before letting out a single tear, expressing all the distress of the character. But far from resigning herself, Kang Dan-shim reacts with violence, smashing the bowl containing the poison and displaying impressive strength in the face of the palace maids.
This scene highlights a character willing to do anything to survive, revealing the fierce will and rage that define her. It also hints at the chaos this explosive personality could cause once awakened in the modern world.
“My Royal Nemesis” will be broadcast from May 8 at 9:50pm (Korean time) on SBS and simultaneously available on Netflix.
