The drama “Doctor on the Edge”continues to unveil its characters with new images focusing on Do Ji-eui, played by Lee Jae-wook, in the run-up to its release in early June.
The series will follow this public health doctor sent to the isolated island of Pyeondong, a place dreaded by most people. It's here that he meets Yook Ha-ri, a nurse played by Shin Ye-eun, with whom he gradually develops a relationship while helping the island's inhabitants.
A competent doctor... but overwhelmed by his new environment
The new images first show Do Ji-eui in full operation, highlighting his calm and professionalism as a plastic surgeon.

But this assurance disappears once he's sent to Pyeondong as part of his alternative military service. Accustomed to a highly structured academic environment, the character is suddenly faced with a totally unfamiliar everyday life and situations beyond his control.

Lee Jae-wook describes his character as «someone who has very little experience of the world outside his studies». The actor adds: «Do Ji Eui finds everything difficult and frightening in unfamiliar environments and situations. I tried to naturally show his awkward, slightly melancholy side, but also his very relatable human charm.»

Through this contrast between his medical skills and his lack of ease in everyday life, the drama seems to want to offer a more vulnerable and endearing character than the classic doctor often shown in medical series.
The drama will air from June 1 at 10pm (Korean time) on ENA and on Disney+ in South Korea, to be reconfirmed for this platform internationally. Remember that this drama is the actor's last project before his departure for military service mid-May 2026.
