JTBC's new romantic drama, « Efficient Dating for Singles« has officially launched its adventure with a first script reading that already hinted at promising chemistry between its lead actors. Adapted from a popular webtoon, the series looks at contemporary love dilemmas through the eyes of a woman determined to take control of her love life.
About the director Lee Jae-hoon and screenwriter Lee Yi-jin, The cast has come together to lay the foundations for a story that is light-hearted, lucid and deeply rooted in today's concerns.
Han Ji-min at the heart of a modern quest for love
Han Ji-min embodies Lee Ui-young, A woman whose professional career is stable, but whose love life seems to have been stagnant for a long time. From the very first reading, the actress delivered a performance that was both luminous and sincere, aptly conveying her character's determination to emerge from her long romantic hiatus and face up to the world of blind dates.
Her performance highlights an engaging heroine, torn between caution and the desire for change, immediately setting the tone for a drama focused on everyday emotions rather than unrealistic romantic ideals.
Two men, two visions of love
Facing her, Park Sung-hoon and Lee Ki-taek portray two radically opposed suitors. Park Sung-hoon lends his features to Song Tae-seob, A man with a gentle appearance, but with a solid, reassuring inner strength. The other way around, Shin Ji-soo (Lee Ki-taek) seduces with his unpredictable energy and free spirit, infusing a more spontaneous and disconcerting dynamic.
The script reading has already accentuated this opposition, heightening curiosity about the love triangle and the direction Lee Ui-young's heart will take.
The contrast between these two male figures already fuels curiosity about Lee Ui-young's final choice, while promising a nuanced reflection on what it really means to «love well».
Around them, Jung Hye-sung and Kim So-hye add a fresh touch as the heroine's colleagues. Jung Hye-sung plays Jung Hyun-min, a lively, open-minded colleague, while Kim So-hye plays Shim Sae-byeok, a clumsy but deeply sincere young recruit.
