Actor and ASTRO member Cha Eun-woo has come out of his silence to speak personally about the tax controversy surrounding him.
Back in January, reports revealed that he had been investigated by the South Korean tax authorities, with an estimated reassessment of over 13 billion won (just over 8 million euros). Faced with the scale of the situation, the artist spoke out again on April 8 via his Instagram account.
In his message, he made a point of addressing his fans and the public directly, acknowledging the impact of the affair.

“I sincerely apologize”
In her statement, Cha Eun-woo expresses her regret at the situation: “I sincerely apologize to my fans and everyone else for the disappointment and confusion caused by this tax controversy.”
He also explains that he delayed speaking out because of the administrative procedures underway: “While various administrative procedures were underway, I had to be cautious about speaking out, and I apologize again for the delay.”
The actor affirms that he has complied with the decisions of the tax authorities, stating: “I respect the procedures and conclusions of the tax department, and in order to avoid any further confusion, I have paid the taxes concerned in full. I will also diligently comply with all remaining procedures.”
Returning to his personal responsibility, he declares: “If certain aspects were not examined with sufficient care, the responsibility falls entirely on me. I won't shirk it by saying ‘I didn't know’ or that it was ‘someone else's decision’.”
Cha Eun-woo also talks about the creation of his company, intended to better manage his activities, while acknowledging a lack of vigilance: “Looking back, there are elements that I didn't examine carefully enough, and I consider that the responsibility lies neither with my family nor my company, but with me.”
Finally, he addresses a message to his AROHA fans: “Above all, I feel deeply sorry for having disappointed my AROHA fans, who have trusted and supported me.”
Concluding on an introspective note, he promises to be more rigorous in the future: “To avoid this type of problem recurring, I will apply stricter and more attentive standards in all my activities.”
