The Murky Stream: Shin Ye-eun dreams of building Joseon's largest conglomerate

Disney+ unveils new images of Shin Ye-eun in the historical drama The Murky Streamwhereas September 26. Alongside Ro Woon and Park Seo-hamthe actress plays a strong, ambitious female character, determined to defy the corrupt rules of a Joseon in chaos.

A heroine guided by her convictions

Shin Ye-eun slips into the skin of Choi Eunthe youngest daughter of a powerful merchant family. Intelligent, persuasive and with a keen sense of business, she quickly earns her father's trust and becomes involved in the trade. But the Joseon market is plagued by bribes, collusion between law enforcement and gangs, and unfair taxes imposed on workers.

Rather than give in, Choi Eun decides to charting your own course. Determined to do business differently, she founded her own trading network and took on the thugs who controlled the port of Mapo. She embodies a new vision: promoting fair tradewithout ever bowing to corruption.

Shin Ye-eun: "A special and different role".

The actress shared her enthusiasm for the role: "I've played bold characters before, but Choi Eun is different. Even in hardship, she keeps her confidence and dares to move forward. I worked on every detail (her look, her walk, her tone of voice) to show a side of me that's yet unseen."

The director Choo Chang-min (Masquerade) also confided in us about his inspiration: Choi Eun was inspired by the character Seo Hee from the novel Toji (The Land). "I wanted her to be like a warrior, ready to endure anything for her cause. Many aspects of this character came to life thanks to Shin Ye-eun's work. She's going to be a great actress."

A dark and captivating historical drama

Immersed in a Lawless Joseon, where the once pure Gyeong River has become a "murky stream", The Murky Stream will tell the story of characters with different dreams, all determined to overthrow a corrupt world and regain their dignity.

With its blend of romance, political drama and the struggle for justice, this new historical K-drama has everything to captivate viewers when it is released on September 26 on Disney+ (awaiting confirmation in France).
