Disney+ has unveiled new images of its upcoming historical drama The Murky Streamsupported by Ro Woon, Shin Ye-eun and Park Seo-ham. Scheduled for September 26The drama promises to be a dark and captivating fresco, anchored in a Joseon world wracked by corruption and power struggles.

A declining Joseon, a river symbol of injustice
The story takes place at a time when the once pure Gyeong River has become a "troubled stream", a metaphor for a society where wealth and power take precedence over human dignity. In this chaos, various characters dream of a fairer world and fight to live with honor.

Ro Woon embodies Jang Si-yulis a simple worker from Gyeonggang who survives from day to day. His life is turned upside down when a secret linked to his past is discovered, dragging him unwillingly into the brutal world of the walpae (local bandits). Although reluctant to take on this role, Si Yul accepts his destiny and tries to impose order on this milieu in order to preserve his dignity.

Ro Woon, a role against the grain
The actor himself described his character: "Si Yul is a young man always ready to leave, like a vagabond. But as his trials and tribulations unfold, he eventually finds his own way." Ro Woon confided that he felt an irresistible energy when he discovered this project: "I said to myself: 'I absolutely must do this.' Si Yul became a precious presence, almost a friend. Even after the shoot was over, I missed him enormously."

An acclaimed physical and emotional transformation
The director Choo Chang-min (Masquerade, Seven Years of Night) was keen to emphasize the actor's investment: "I told him I was going to take away his greatest asset (his beauty) and he agreed to redesign his face and body. In every scene, he gave 200 %, always ready to do better."
The fight director, Park Young-sikwas also impressed: "He looked like a deer, gentle and quiet, but when he exploded, he became a tiger. His ability to change instantly was amazing."
A sageuk not to be missed
With its dark atmosphere, realistic fights and a totally transformed Ro Woon, The Murky Stream is shaping up to be a must-see back-to-school drama. Available from September 26, exclusively on Disney+.
