“Teach You a Lesson”: the new Netflix kdrama unveils an explosive 1st teaser and its release date

Announcements

Netflix's next drama, “Teach You a Lesson”, begins to unveil its universe with a 1st poster and a particularly intense teaser. With its mix of school violence, action and criticism of the education system, the series promises a darker, more muscular approach than conventional school dramas.

Directed by Hong Jong-chan (“Juvenile Justice”) and written by Lee Nam-kyu (“Daily Dose of Sunshine”), the series will follow the Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB), a fictional government unit created to restore teachers' authority in schools plunged into chaos.

A special team facing a school system in crisis

The poster features Na Hwa-jin, interpreted by Kim Moo-yeol, surrounded by Choi Gang-seok (Lee Sung-min), Im Han-rim (Jin Ki-joo) and Bong Geun-dae (P.O.), all members of this special unit.

Behind their calm smiles, however, lies a far more violent reality. The teaser shows schools where classroom disruptions, harassment, gangs, drugs and even gambling seem to be getting out of hand.

Faced with this situation, Na Hwa-jin intervenes directly on the spot. From the very first images, he tells the students: «Don't worry. We'll protect you», before embarking with his team on various operations.

The teaser puts a strong emphasis on action, with physical confrontations, car chases and scenes where Kim Moo-yeol's character quickly neutralizes those who oppose the office.

But beyond the action, the series seems intent on addressing the issue of victims within the education system. Indeed, Education Minister Choi Gang-seok declares, «The Educational Rights Protection Bureau is not on the side of teachers or students, but on the side of victims.»

With its more mature, edgy tone, “Teach You a Lesson” could well offer a different take on the usual school dramas, blending investigation, justice and action.

The series will be available in its entirety on Netflix on June 5. We can't wait to see it, can you?
